Joseph Charles Carricato passed away from this earth into the arms of Our Heavenly Father December 20, 2021, in Pueblo County Colorado. Joseph was endeared to the nicknames “Josey”, “Cary” and most fondly “Poppa”.
Cary was born to Joseph P. and Rose (nee Guerrieri) Carricato in Crested Butte, Colorado, February 25, 1940. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; briefly resided in southern California prior to and after his military duty. He later returned back to his beloved state, Colorado, often telling those closest to him, “You can leave Colorado, but you will eventually be back”. Cary met and married his beloved wife Sherrill (Sherry) Diane Walker of nearly 60 years in 1962 and remained by her side upon his death. Cary was stern, ornery and mischievous, with a library of stories, one-liners, and funny observation about life. His wit will be absent and dearly missed from our lives.
Cary is survived by his loving wife Sherry; sons Randy( Shauna), Robie (Melanie) and Tony (Trisha); eight grandchildren, Justin (Crystal), Shane, Tanner, Nicolette, Skyler (Ygor), Chaze, Wyatt and Tuker; in addition to two great-grandchildren, Aria and Danny; plus many family members spread throughout numerous towns, cities and states. Goodbye “Poppa” We Love You!
Funeral Service will be held March 14, at 12pm at Pikes Peak Military Cemetery, located at 10545 Drennan Rd, Colorado Spring, Colorado. Immediately following will be a reception at Dove-Witt family Mortuary, 6630 S US Hwy 85/87 in Fountain, Colorado. We will have a celebration of life and reception.
