

Julia “Gallardo” Rivas went to reunite with her Lord and family, who have preceded her, Octavio G. Rivas, Sr., her husband of 52 ½ years; daughter, Erlinda Rivas; parents, Francisco Armendariz “Captain”, Virginia Urives Gallardo; siblings, Petra Chavez, Celia Gallardo, Francisco “Kiko” and Helen Gallardo; sister-in-law, Socorro Gallardo; sons-in-law, John A. Baca and Louis Vigil; brothers-in-law, Michael Acosta and Jess Garcia; surviving children, Louise (Colin) Bottem, Goodyear, AZ; Margaret Rivas, Gloria (James), Pueblo; Octavio (MaryAnn) Rivas, Colorado Springs, CO; Arthur (Sandra) Rivas, Espanola, NM; Carmela Baca, Carlos Rivas, also of Pueblo; siblings, Virginia Garcia, CA; Rafaela (Fernando) Salazar, Pueblo; Marie “Paz” Calderon, CA; Herminia Acosta, CA; Maria Lou (Steve) Garcia, John J. Gallardo, CO; Valentina, Childress, NV; Rita (Gerald) Squillante, Carlos (Patti) Gallardo, CA. Julia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She had 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Parkview Hospital Staff, the Chateau at Sharmar Memory Unit and Staff, the Staff and office of Anthony Ortegon, M.D., and Frontier Hospice. All the daughters and sons also give a heartwarming “Thank You” to daughter, Margaret Rivas, for her unending devotion to caring for our mother, Julia. Everything was appreciated by us all. Viewing will be 1:30-5 p.m., Monday, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
