Mary Jane Sloan (Frazier) aka Grandma Janie left this life on February 27, 2018. She lived every one of her 80 years as a beautiful soul who passed wisdom, comfort and happiness to each person she met.
As a young girl, she loved animals, horses in particular. She participated in rodeo as a barrel racer, and rode her horse in parades. The love of horses carried through her entire life.
As a young woman, she was known by many friends as Sunny, a nickname she treasured, and that uniquely applied to her outlook. Eventually, she went by Janie with friends and family.
She loved life, and she loved her parents, brothers and sister. Her Sister Barbara was truly her best friend, and her brothers Don and Keith, she treasured all of their lives. This family stayed close to each other, and made many happy memories for themselves and for the next generations of children who came to be known as our family.
Janie gave birth to 3 daughters, Debra, Laurie and Terri, and also has 3 step daughters. Karen, Skippy Dee, and Vicky Lynn. She loved them all without reservation and made a lifelong impression on them. Her three daughters Debra, Laurie and Terri, she raised with loving hands, and much patience.
After spending a few years at home raising children, Janie went back to work as a strong independent woman, working for 30 years at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in various capacities, mostly as a Health Unit Coordinator. Her loving nature supported patients and their families through hard times and healing. She always had a magic touch that made people feel better. Since retiring from Corwin, Janie loved her family, friends and neighbors, and made friends of all ages with her gentle personality and positive outlook.
From her daughters, she was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Sarah and Crystal; Bambi, Luke, and Daniel; and Gunner, Shelley, and Logan. She was a best-friend and confidant for her grandkids, as well as the support and foundation of a strong and independent family with the patience and fortitude to conquer any of life’s struggles with a smile. She was also a great and sunny influence is her great-grandchildren’s lives and always only a positive and loving call away.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
