Melissa was a retired school teacher from District 60 Schools where she taught at Risley Middle school, and Columbian Elementary School. She graduated from Pueblo South High. She attended the Colorado State Pueblo and Adams State College. Melissa earned degrees in Speech Pathology Audiology, Teaching, and a Master degree. She liked traveling with her husband and daughter, going to Bronco, Rockies (Cubs) and Avalanche games. She especially loved her spring break getaways with her daughter Ryleigh. She enjoyed volunteering has a substitute teacher at St. Therese Catholic School where her daughter attends. She is survived by her Husband Duane, Daughter Ryleigh (Ryebug), brother Jeff (Rhonda) Leonard, nephews Nick Leonard, Tyler Leonard, Cameron Madrid and her niece T Leonard. Melissa is Preceded in death by her father James Leonard and her Mother Charlene (Klune) Leonard. There will be a joint service for Melissa and her Mother Charlene. Charlene passed away in October while Melissa was in the hospital and wanted to be present for her mother services. Her family thought this would be a great way to honor both Melissa and Charlene.
