Michael and I served together on the USS Cleveland. I knew him as a laid back guy who would play along with my dumb jokes. My condolences to his family, he will surely be missed.

I do not have words to say how my heart is breaking for you on this horrible loss. My prayers and good thoughts are with you all, Merrilyn, Michelle, John and Chris. I cannot imagine how hard this is for you all. I wish I could be there in person to lend a shoulder.  Michael was a good son and brother. Merrilyn, you were always telling us how Michael did things for you without asking and out of the goodness of his heart, he did so much.  He will be missed so much.  He was a good guy.  Love to all from Tracy, Levi and Gabe.

My condolences to the family.  May He Rest In Peace. I did not know him but was touched by the story on Facebook. My brother served in the Navy as a career of over 20 yrs. some how feel they are military brothers. God bless you all.

Best tours on shift were always with Mack. I couldn't ask for a better person to work with

R.I.P. Mack, you were a great dude. It was an honor to serve with you at ACU-1.  I went on my first deployment with Mack back in 2011. He was on the LCU 1635 and I was on the 1629. I'll always remember how fun it was to be around you, and how reliable and kind you were. As a fellow engineer and artist, you made it easier to feel at ease around you and I wish we could've spent more time together.  You didn't deserve what happened to you.  To Mack's family, please accept my deepest condolences, your son was a great man. 

I send my heartfelt condolences to this family. Merrilyn, Michael's mother was my best friend through high school. We remained friends until today. Although we are a great distance apart, my heart is broken by the loss of Michael. The angels gained another angel and his dad is waiting for him. God grant the family peace and comfort.

I had the honor and privilege of getting to serve alongside Mack onboard the Cleveland. He was a great sailor and I am certain that he was a great firefighter. My deepest condolences to Mack’s family and to the fire department he worked with.

Fair winds and following seas, we have the watch now. Rest In Peace brother.

Michael, you will be missed by all that knew you and loved you!  I am glad we got to know each other through church and youth!  Thank you for your service and your love of country!
