Norma Zupkofska, 77 went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2016. After several years of pain and suffering, she is finally at peace. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was born December 30, 1938 to the union of Gregory and Velma Power in Kerrville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gregory Pete Power, sister-in-law Hanna Power, her daughter Anita Zupkofska and the precious young lives of her granddaughter Kirah Zupkofska and her grandson Brody Smith.
She is survived by her husband, of almost forty-five years, Alan Zupkofska; children Karie (John) Saiz, Bob (Brenda) Smith, Annette Smith, Tammy Stapleton (Eric Santoyo) and Tanya Zupkofska; grandchildren: Harley (Lashawn) Saiz, Riley Saiz, Blade Saiz, Tiffany (Shad) Glenn, Colby (Ryan) Harr, Nico Smith, Jeanetta Bachand, Gregory Vanasse, Garret and Kenzie Stapleton, Lucas and Reyes Santoyo, and Kaleb Swart; great-grandchildren: Alexys, Maddison and Caleb Saiz, Stormy Saiz, Cohen, Tylee and Broden Glenn, Sadie Ruth Harr, Raenie Stapleton, and Emitt Stapleton; sister Ruth (Joe) Taravella and numerous nieces and nephews.
She had a two year technical degree as a psychiatric technician and worked at the State Hospital for many years. Norma was very generous and gave freely to St. Jude, The Disabled Veterans and many more organizations over the years when she really couldn’t afford to do this. When she was physically able, she was a person who sent a card whether for sympathy, get well, birthday, Christmas or just thinking of you. As she began to have difficulties in writing these cards slowly stopped or became less frequent, but she always cared about the sentiments of these occasions, and it bothered her that she could not continue with this practice. It would have been easy for her to give up on life but because of her strong faith and beliefs she had a zest for life. She loved the people in her life fiercely and deeply and when they hurt, she felt their pain as well.
We would like to thank Professional Home Healthcare for caring for our mom for over twelve years and for all those that have offered their condolences in the loss of our mother. Norma has chosen to be cremated at Imperial Memorial Gardens. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Reception will follow the mass.
