Mr. Robert F. Moore Sr., 87, of Pueblo passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Robert was born March 14, 1931 in Pueblo, Colorado where he lived most of his life. He always saw the best in people inspiring them with a truly unique ability to find the right words, jokes or words of encouragement as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, coach, teacher, principal and friend of virtually everyone he met. He grew up in Pueblo with his now departed sister Betty and brothers Quinn and Larry. His father Lewqinlus “Quin” Moore, born in 1877, imparted some “interesting” lessons from his boyhood time in Kentucky to his time in the Spanish American war and later as captain of the guard for a mining operation and railroad detective eventually settling in Pueblo with his wife, the former Wilhelmina “Winnie” Sindermann. Despite tough times, Bob had a colorful childhood full of stories which were shared often at the urging of his kids and grandkids – Bob’s storytelling became legendary. He never complained about the circumstances of his childhood as it shaped his humility, work ethic and an unending positive approach to everything. He earned valedictorian honors in junior high and carried that approach to Centennial High School where he also played football and finished 4th in state high jump all while opening a restaurant early each morning before school. He met the beautiful Lucille Ricotta at a soda shop and despite being from rival Central High, they married shortly after she graduated beginning an awesome 56 year marriage before Lucille passed away in 2008. Bob attended Pueblo Junior College again playing football before joining the Air Force and starting a family. After his service time, he earned a teaching degree from University of Northern Colorado and began a distinguished career in District 60 where he coached football and track, taught science and eventually served as Principal at four different schools (Risley, Pitts, Heaton, Roncalli). He also was a partner in a construction company with his brother-in-law Frank Ricotta of Pueblo. He later earned his master’s degree from Western Colorado University and his doctoral degree from University of Northern Colorado.Throughout the years, his family constantly received unsolicited thanks from so many people for how “Mr. Moore” was so awesome helping them through tough times or saving them from dropping out of school or from janitors he treated as key members of school team, which of course they were. His legacy lives through those he so positively influenced including his children; his sons both attended the Coast Guard Academy and both eventually served in key command assignments with son Bob eventually transitioning to education serving as Deputy Superintendent/CFO for 26 years in multiple school districts. Son Mike retired as Captain of the Port for Puget Sound and is a maritime executive. Daughter Trina followed her father’s footsteps into education with a career as a teacher, principal and executive director positions. All three earned master’s degrees. Bob is survived by 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren (and one more on the way); oldest son Robert F. Moore Jr and kids Katie Hens (husband Jon), Matt (son Quinn), Mark (wife Laura and son Vance), Monica and Briana; youngest son Mike (wife Julie and son Andrew and older son Ryan) and daughter Trina with son Garrett Sage (Liz and Alexandria) and daughter Elise Sage; also survived by 23 nieces and nephews. A visitation will occur on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 4-8pm at Imperial Funeral Home. His Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11am at Our Lady of the Meadows Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens.
