

William Franklin “Bill” Sorenson, 91, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2025, at the Pavilion at Villa Pueblo. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan, on March 4, 1933. Bill was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by serenity, kindness, love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. The way he lived his life had a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Carolyn, and his daughter, Shelley (Greg) Ratliff. Forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren, Brittany (Mario) Martinez, Sabrina (Bryan) Watson (Texas), and great grandchildren, Dayshia Martinez, Tatum Martinez, Ethan Martinez, Saige Watson (Texas), and Emerson Watson (Texas). His brothers, Roland Sorenson (Michigan), Jim (Karen) Sorenson (Virgina), David (Tami) Sorenson (Michigan). His nephews and niece, Ron (Karen) Pike, Richard Pike; Keith (Sherry) Watkins (North Carolina), Steve (Vicky) Watkins, and Sherry Watkins. On his wife Carolyn’s side, Cindy (Bob) Powers, and Jim (Becky) Dittmar. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice Sorenson and his beloved wife of almost 51 years, Joretta (Watkins) Sorenson. He was a long-time member and deacon at Parkhill Baptist Church and a member of Calvary Church. Bill served in the United States’s Army from April 14, 1953, until his honorable discharge on April 13, 1955. His most significant duty location was with the 125th Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson, Colorado. It was during this assignment that Bill met his first wife, Joretta. He and Joretta were married at Parkhill Baptist Church in Pueblo on November 12, 1954. Bill and Carol were married on May 26, 2012, at Broadway Christian Church in Pueblo, and were married for more than12 years at the time of Bill’s passing. He was a talented self-taught artist, skilled handyman, avid fisherman, and Bronco’s fan. Bill retired from the CF&I in 1982 after 25 years of employment. The family appreciates and thanks the staff and caregivers at the Pavilion at Villa Pueblo and Sangre de Cristo Community Care Hospice. A memorial service for Bill will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Imperial Memorial Gardens Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colorado. Following the memorial service will be an interment at 11:00 a..m. at Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of food and flowers, contributions may be made to Sangre de Cristo Community Care, 1920 Valley Drive, Pueblo, Colorado, 81008.
