"Kittye" May Henry Bates Locke

January 8, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family, friends and

loyal “Kitty-Cat”. Born in a log cabin in Carroll County, TN to the late

James Claude and Mary Lee Clark Bates and grew up in Nashville, TN. She

attended Protestant Hospital School of Nursing in Nashville, TN and

Columbia State College in Columbia, TN. She was a RN and worked in direct

patient care, nursing supervision, and nursing education in Giles County

until retiring at age 80.

She was a longtime, active and steadfast member of East Hill Church of

Christ in Pulaski, TN.

She was an avid reader and maintained an interest in the Bible, history,

people, travel, current events and cooking throughout her life.

She was a devoted and generous wife, mother and friend.

Preceded in death by loving husband of 67 years, Horace Eslick Locke;

sons, Baby Locke and William (Billy) Bates Locke; sister, Willeria Bates

Holt.

Survived by daughters, Linda Diane Locke of Nashville, TN, Nancy Lee Locke

Radek of Nashville, TN, grandson, Benjamin Lee Hanberry and wife, Lauren

Thomas Hanberry of Murfreesboro, TN, great grandchild, River Lee Hanberry

son-in-law, Bruce Radek of Nashville, TN, nephews John Mitchell (Lillie)

Holt of Augusta, GA, Robert Allen Holt; devoted friend and caretaker, Ann

Holly of Pulaski, TN, three grand nephews and five great-grand nieces and

nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, 1-11- 2013, from 4PM to 8PM at the Carr &

Erwin Funeral Home in Pulaski, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 1-12-2013, at 1PM at the Carr &

Erwin Funeral Home, with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
