

William Francis Redmond, Sr., age 73, died peacefully on April 22, 2018 at his home in Minor Hill, TN. He was born September 20, 1944 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was the son of the late Margaret Begley and Cooper Paul Redmond, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin T. and Cooper P. Redmond, and his sister, Kathleen Webb.
Mr. Redmond proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Security Agency, stationed in Thule, Greenland from 1962 until 1965, attaining the rank of E5. As an avid Horseman from an early age, Mr. Redmond began what he termed his “dream job” operating Carousel Riding Stables in New Castle County, Delaware for twelve years, where he offered riding lessons and trail rides to the general public. He was a lifelong member of the Brandywine Valley Professional Horseman’s Association. He then moved to Trappe, MD, where he managed Trappe Landing Grain for 29 years, retiring in 2010. Upon his retirement, he moved to Minor Hill, TN, where he was an Officer and Volunteer Driver for the Giles County Veteran’s Alliance.
Mr. Redmond is survived by his sons, Christopher Michael Redmond of Easton, MD, Patrick Cooper Redmond (Susan) of Trappe, MD, William Francis Redmond, Jr. (Joanna) of Cambridge, MD, and Timothy James Redmond (Kerry) of Cambridge, MD, his four grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica, Ezekiel, and Emily, his sister, Margaret Long of Annville, PA, and his brother, Dennis of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL. Survivors also include Bill’s special friend, Virginia Kufta, his loyal and devoted dog, Blackie, and his handsome TWH, Claude.
Mr. Redmond will be buried with full Military Honors at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware. Memorial Contributions may be made to CARIS Hospice in Columbia, TN or the Giles County Veteran’s Alliance, P.O. box 1071, Pulaski, TN 38478.
