Janice Philpott 86, who lived in Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda on April 12, 2022. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 3, 1936 to her parents Sam and Fern Horn.
Jan retired from Farmer Jacks whom she worked for over 45 years. She was an avid gardener and loved planting flowers and working in her yard. She also enjoyed traveling, going for walks, going to the movies, being near the water watching a great sunset that lit up the skies with reds, pinks and purple and especially listening to country music while enjoying a nice glass of cabernet. Her favorite musician was Willie Nelson (On the road again). She was an excellent cook and made the best apple pie. She could throw down a Thanksgiving spread like it was nobody’s business. She absolutely loved being around her family and friends and adored her two rescue cats Tucker and Angie. She always rescued from Animal Welfare League.
Jan is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Dennis Philpott, her parents Sam and Fern Horn, her brother Fred Horn, sister Lee Castle and sister Cindy Nicholson.
Jan is survived and will be dearly missed by her children Catherine (Tommy) Stalinski, Daniel (Riza) Smith, Kenneth Smith (Cynthia) and Kelly Ashton, step children Cynthia Philpott and Cheri Fritzley, her 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and her two sisters Carrie Misch and Carla Fuller.
There are no services scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers Jan would have preferred and appreciated any donations to the Animal Welfare League.
