

Merl W. Larson was born on June 21, 1911 and passed away on April 19, 2014 at the age of 102.Merl was born in Linden Township, MN and his family moved to Greeley, Co when he was 5 years old. In 1933 he married Lucy Ivy and they spent 69 years together. They farmed many years in the Greeley area and he spent the remainder of his working years as a trucker and dock foreman with Miller Bros. Trucking Co. of Greeley, CO. Merl and Lucy moved to the Puyallup area in 1990 to be near family.Preceding him in death was his wife Lucy in 2003 and his son Arthur W. Larson in 2012. Daughter and son-in-law Fran and Dan Watson survive him. Merl is also survived by granddaughters Maidee Watson and Terri Elliott (Dan), as well as great grandsons Taylor, Addison and Elliot Gregory and great granddaughter Sophie Elliott. Merl’s last years were spent at Emeritus (Merrill Gardens) in Puyallup assisted living residence. He so enjoyed the staff and friendly daily greetings from all.Merl was a quiet, gentle man with a keen sense of humor and he treasured his family beyond words. He enjoyed working on sudoku puzzles and really enjoyed his easy chair.The family extends the greatest thanks for the gentle and kind care he received at Good Samaritan Hospital during his 26-day stay and a very special thank you to the Linden Grove Nursing Facility for his care during his final 10 days. You are the angels on earth.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Good Samaritan Children’s Therapy Unit of Puyallup.Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at Sumner City Cemetery at 11:00 am. Reception immediately following at the Watson Residence.
