Alvin Ray Wilks

Alvin Ray Wilks, known in his childhood as (PeeDick), was born on August 9, 1954 to Verna Wilks Stocks & Alvin Harris in Pitt County, NC. He attended P.S. Jones Junior High and graduated from Washington High located in Washington, NC in 1974. Upon graduation, Alvin went in to the U.S. Marine Corp where he served 7 years and was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal. After his service in the military, Alvin moved to New York where he married Jeannine Caraway. From this union they had 3 children- Omar, Monique and Chad. After their divorce, Alvin later had another a son, Michael. In 2002, Alvin married Aurea Wilks who remained his wife until his death. Alvin was employed by New York City Transit for 24 years as Conductor/Motorman and retired after his declining health. He was a member of the Masonic Temple (Kings of Kings Lodge 102).

He is predeceased by his siblings Hazel Parker and James Stocks. He leaves behind to mourn his death are his wife Aurea; his children Omar, Monique, Chad and Michael, his stepson Kevell Caraway, stepdaughters; Sheila Moret-Johnson, Sharon Jackson and Jaclynn Moret. 6 sisters: Verna Key and Ulla Franklyn of Brooklyn, NY, Barbara Wilks of Queens, NY and Annie Smith of Long Branch, NJ, Carolyn Witherspoon of Kinston, NC and Darlene Smith of Houston, TX. 4 brothers: Carlson Harris, Arthur Ray Harris, Thomas Harris of Ayden, NC and Al James Harris of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his favorite brother in law Lawrence Halcond and his longtime friend and cousin Charles Jenkins.

He was a man that loved God above all.
