Tatsavitur varenyam
bhargo devasya dhimahi.
Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat.
O God (om), the Giver of Life (bhur),
Remover of pains and sorrows (bhuvah),
bestower of the Universe (tat savitur).
Thou are most luminous (devasya),
pure (bhargo) and adorable (varenyam).
We meditate on Thee (dhimahl).
May Thou (yo) inspire and guide (prachodayat)
our (nah) intellect (dhiyo) in the right direction.
