With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Melissa Kerry Samnath, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, friend, and companion to her cherished dog, Oliver.
Melissa was born on April 29, 1989, in Brooklyn, New York, and resided in Queens Village, New York. She was the beloved daughter of Carmen Samnath and the late Keith Samnath, and the youngest of five children. She was the loving sister of Sean, Vincent, Ahalia, and Lisa.
Melissa lived life with curiosity, ambition, and joy. She was intelligent, driven, stylish, and endlessly adventurous. A dedicated professional, she built a successful career as a Senior Accountant with Live Nation and had recently been preparing to begin a new chapter as Managing Accountant for SoundCloud, a milestone she had worked incredibly hard to achieve.
Melissa was a true world traveler whose suitcase was always packed and ready for her next adventure. She embraced new places, built connections everywhere she went, and lived with a spirit of curiosity and exploration.
She loved music of every genre, concerts, art, books, dinners with loved ones, cruises, and creating meaningful memories. She was hardworking, business-minded, funny, protective, stubborn when needed, fiercely loving, and unforgettable to those who knew her.
Melissa was a devoted aunt to her nephews, Timothy, Logan, and Jonathan, with Logan also being her godson. She shared a special bond with her nieces, Ariel and Arianna. She was also a proud great-aunt to Bella and Catori.
Melissa had dreams still waiting to be lived, including plans to one day open a pastry café in France with her sister, Ahalia.
Melissa leaves behind her mother, Carmen Samnath; her siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, extended family, dear friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her strength, humor, kindness, and adventurous spirit.
Her yearbook quote read:
“It is better to be feared than loved.”
Yet those who knew Melissa best understood that she was, and always will be, deeply loved.
Forever remembered. Forever missed. Forever ours.
