

Born on May 18, 1972, to William and Alwilter Wilson, Orlan was raised in Southeast Washington, D.C. He graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) with a degree in Accounting and later earned his MBA from American University.
Orlan built a meaningful career in nonprofit finance, working with organizations including Helen Keller International, Action Against Hunger, and Access Now, and ultimately serving as a Chief Financial Officer.
Affectionately known as “O.B.,” Orlan was devoted to his family, community, God, and service. An Eagle Scout, he remained active in Scouting and his children’s schools in Queens, serving as a Cub Scout leader and supportive Girl Scout dad. He also contributed to his church, St. Albans Congregational Church, and the Lewis Latimer House Museum board.
He loved music—especially The Temptations—traveling, reading, and spending time with his children, whom he called his “three heartbeats.” He often reminded others to “Enjoy your moments.”
Orlan is survived by his wife, Myrlande Wilson; his children, Landon, Kieran, and Narai; his father, William E. Wilson; his siblings, Conan and Shana Wilson; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alwilter Wilson, and his sister, Mara Wilson.
