Rae O'Grady

Rae was the daughter of the late Lillian and Ross Paget. Born in Bayridge, Brooklyn, the family later moved to Queens Village, in the 1940's.

In 1955, Rae married Patrick F. O'Grady and they began raising their 4 children in Queens Village when Patrick died tragically in April of 1968.

Besides raising her 4 children, Rae cared for many foster children throughout the years. She later went back to school and specialized in newborn childcare. She helped countless new mothers adjust to their new roles, while sharing in the joy of caring for newborns.

Rae also found time to volunteer at the local SNAP program (Senior Nutritional Adult Program). During her time as a volunteer, she made many friends and later enjoyed the benefits of the program, along with many of those friends.

For the past 2 years, Rae has resided at Grace Plaza, in Great Neck, where she was known by her many new friends and staff as their “Rae of Sunshine”.

Her greatest joy were her 8 grandchildren; Michael, Maureen, Matthew, Tim, Alec, Sean, Christine and Justin.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Richardson Laubman; her children, Jim & Leslie (Kaplan) O'Grady, Kay (O'Grady) & Dennis Toscano, Kevin O'Grady and Tom O'Grady; her nephew Chris Richardson and niece Bonnie (Richardson) Quirke.

Her memory will be cherished by all those that she touched during her life.
