With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Raymonde Jacques, a cherished wife, loving mother, adored grandmother, and a friend to many. Born on January 23, 1944, in the vibrant town of La Valée de Jacmel, Haiti. Raymonde's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, strength, and grace.
Raymonde was born to Ruben and Cecile Payen. She was the fourth of eight children. She attended catholic school during childhood and ultimately graduated from Elie Dubois earning a teaching degree.
Raymonde's journey in life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and boundless love. After several years of teaching in Haiti, Raymonde embarked on a new adventure and moved to New York City in the early 1970s. In 1972 she married the love of her life, Jean Claude Jacques , with whom she shared an incredible journey of 51 years, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Together, they built a life and home full of warmth and joy.
A devoted mother, she leaves behind her loving children, Jean and Cecilia. Her nurturing nature and wisdom were the cornerstones of their upbringing. She was a guiding light in their lives, instilling values of kindness, resilience, and compassion.
As a mother-in-law, she embraced Dawn with open arms, extending her love and care, enriching the family with her warm spirit. Her role as 'Grandma' to Elijah and Joshua was one she cherished deeply. Her eyes sparkled with pride and love for her grandsons, and her legacy will undoubtedly live on through them.
Raymonde's life was marked by her strength and her ability to touch lives in profound ways. Early on in her new life in New York she worked as a home health aide. She was so empathetic and kind to her patients they often became extended family. After selflessly pausing her career to care for her young children, she delved back into serving others by becoming a nurse’s aide. After twenty-five years as a nurse’s aide for The City of New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Raymonde retired in 2010.
Raymonde was a woman of strong faith. While living in Brooklyn she was a parishioner at St. Fortunata Roman Catholic Church but upon moving to Queens she became a parishioner at Incarnation Church in Queens Village. There she attended mass regularly for more than thirty-five years. Her love for the Lord guided her actions and inspired those near to her.
Raymonde had a full life filled with a variety of interests. She loved to garden, sew and complete crossword puzzles. She was a great cook and enjoyed experimenting with new recipes. Raymonde enjoyed relaxing at home and watching sports, shows on wildlife, sci-fi and British comedies.
As we bid farewell to Raymonde, we celebrate her remarkable life. She was a beacon of love and strength, and her memory will continue to inspire us every day. We take comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever be a part of us.
Raymonde Jacques will be deeply missed, but her spirit, her love, and her lessons will forever remain with us.
