

Richard Pittman Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025. He was born in Livingston, Alabama, the son of Richard Pittman Sr. and Mattie Bell Farmer. Richard graduated from Brighton High School and soon after joined the Job Corps.
In 1967, Richard moved to New York and began a long career in retail. He was a reliable, dedicated worker who seldom took a day off. In September 1979, Richard met the love of his life, Ruth Alison Burris and got married in February 1982.
Richard had a deep passion and loyalty for the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Tigers, and through no fault of his own, the Dallas Cowboys. Richard loved playing spades but was notorious for underbidding. His love for simple pleasures in life such as sports, food, game shows and movies were endearing. Most of all Richard loved his family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Pittman Sr. and Mattie Bell Farmer, siblings Donald Jack Pittman, Wilber Dalton, Janet W. Smith and Catherine Wages.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Ruth Alison Pittman; his son, Richard Pittman III; and daughters, Maryn Linette Pittman and Felicia Smith. He leaves behind sisters: Lucinda Farmer, Ella Mae Jordan, Dorothy Crockett, Littie Saxton, Barbara Hall (Ted) and Gloria Pittman; brothers: Ricardo Pittman (Geraldine) and Cherokee Lamar Pittman (Doris), a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 22439 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, New York 11428. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 22439 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, New York 11428. The committal service will follow at 1:15 PM at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, 500 Port Washington Blvd, Port Washington, NY 11050.
