Victor G. Cruz was born October 4, 1960. He passed on Tuesday morning, October 4, 2022 at the age of 62. Victor was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the son to Buena and Victor L. Cruz. Victor grew up in fun and loving family, he was a brother to Susan, Albert, Danny, Robert and Lizzie.
Victor was a prideful man, especially when it came to his work. He worked 24 years in the New York City Housing Authority, working his way up to Superintendent. He worked mostly in Brooklyn and Queens during his career. He finished his long career in Brooklyn, at the Breukelen projects.
Victor was proud of his Puerto Rican and Irish heritage. He made it a point to say that he was a proud Irish Puerto Rican. His family and him spent many summers and vacations visiting their home away from home, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. During his time there, he spent it with his mother and family.
Victor was a gentle giant who was loved strongly by his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed many things in life and would like to brag that he was a professional at everything he gave his time to. From playing the trumpet, to fishing with family and friends and lastly, teaching Michael Jackson all of his dance moves as he would say. He was a big sports fan. His family shared in his pain, watching the Mets, Jets, Knicks and Rangers every season. Fishing quickly became Victors favorite hobby. He spent a lot of his time making lines and preparing for his next time out. He would fish with his family and friends and looked forward till when the weather was warm enough to go out again.
Victor took many joys in his life but his main joy was spending time with his family and friends. Some of our families best memories were spent in our home, the many years we spent together. The family barbecues we’re held deeply in our families hearts. Victor would spend most of our family get togethers watching his family, enjoying their company and seeing everyone grow as the time passed. As Victor aged, he would spend his time calling and texting his family, friends and checking in on people in the neighborhood.
Victor was a son, brother, cousin, husband, father and grandfather. Victor leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Cecilia Cruz, his three children, Kirsten, Victor and Anthony. Four grandchildren, Yajaira, Joshua, Jenna and Jax. Forever in our hearts, we’ll miss you
