

Shek Chuen “Stanley” Chan, 84, of Quincy, MA, returned to Our Lord peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Shek was born in Hong Kong to Chun Yick Chan and Shui Chi Leung. He grew up with his older brother, Shek Hing Chan and older sister, Lai Ping Chan. After immigrating to the US, he loved spending his time with art (specifically, watercolor), stamp and coin collecting, and practicing Chinese calligraphy. As he got older, he studied Biochemistry where he received his BS from Boston University and Masters from Northeastern University. Shek spent 30 years working at UMass Medical School and Massachusetts State Lab where he retired in 2002.
His life was furthered fulfilled when he met Milie Tong and happily married in Boston, MA in1973. Shortly thereafter, they had started a family, complete with sons, Garvin and Kevin. As a family, they loved attending their kids' sports games, music recitals, and trips around the country. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Shek and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. His spiritual life was graced when he responded to God's calling and was baptized into the Catholic Faith.
In addition to his wife Millie and his sons Garvin and Kevin, Shek is survived by his daughter-in-laws LeeAnn Liu and Diane Chan, grandchildren Samantha, Isabelle, Evelyn, Masie, and Matthew, nephew Gordon Yuen and his family, brother/sister-in-laws Agnes, Paul, Agatha, Amy, Wilson and their families.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to join the family during visiting hours on Friday June 9 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Deware Funeral Home 576 Hancock St., Quincy, Ma. 02170 Funeral Mass on Saturday June 10 at 10:00 am at St. James the Greater Church, 125 Harrison Avenue, (Chinatown) Boston, MA 02111. Family will receive relatives and friends at 9:00 am at the church prior to the Mass.
Parking available at Tufts Medical Center parking lot on Hudson Street near the church from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Procession to Forest Hills Cemetery immediately after Mass.
