

Mrs. Anne Low Tatum McQueen of 401 East Third Avenue of Red Springs, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, October 22nd. Mrs. McQueen is survived by her daughter, Patricia Anne McQueen of Red Springs and son, Ralph Lipscomb (Mac) McQueen, Jr. and wife Susan, of Charlotte N.C., and their children Cameron, Lauren and Tatum. Surviving also is her brother, Walter Tatum of Roaring Gap, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Walter Low and Pauline Peeler Tatum of Salisbury, N.C. She was a graduate of Duke University and University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where she received her Masters degree. Mrs. McQueen worked as a teacher in the Mecklenburg County Schools. She was also a former faculty member of Vardell Hall . Active in her community, she served on the Southeastern Health Foundation of Trustees and was a member of the Foundation Society Club. She was a supporter of the Academic Scholarship Endowment Program, Gibson Cancer Center, and the Southeastern Hospice and Hospice House. She was a board member of Piedmont Cheerwine. Mrs. McQueen was recognized by the Red Springs Chamber of Commerce with the prestigious Waverly S. Barham Award for outstanding contributions to the community. She was also a member of the Dillatant Book Club and was active in Circle at church. She was a member and benefactor of The Flora McDonald Education Foundation and active in the Red Springs Presbyterian Church and an Elder of the Church. Mrs. McQueen will be remembered for her genuine Southern charm and as one who loved to entertain friends and family. She loved beautiful flowers and comforting meals. She loved her family and avidly followed their activities. She adored the ocean and spending quite time at the cabin. Her contagious laughter, unwavering faith, and giving heart were always present. She loved people and always had room for one more at her table. The family will receive friends at Red Springs Presbyterian Church, 115 N Vance Street, Red Springs, N.C. on Saturday, October 25 from 3 4:00 P.M. A Memorial Service at the church will at 5:00 P.M. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Red Springs Presbyterian Church and Southeastern Health Foundation.
