Weldon Cox Bill Avant

Mr. Weldon Cox "Bill" Avant of 109 E. McNeill Drive, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in South Eastern Regional Medical Center at the age of 82. Mr. Avant was born on September 19, 1929 in Columbus County to the late Austin Avant and Nettie Cox Avant. He was a member of Lumber Bridge Presbyterian church. Survivors are his wife, Gertrude W. Avant of Red Springs; A daughter, Brenda Burgess and her husband Rusty of Churchton, MD; a Son, Bill Avant of Florida; a Daughter Sylvia Perkins and her husband Jim of Iowa, a Son William McArthur and his wife Cindy of Houston, Texas, a Son Heinz McArthur and his wife Cynthia of Cary, NC; Three sisters, Geraldine Southerland of Concord, NC, Cora Lee Jacobs and her husband Curtis of Richmond, VA, and Bobbie Brown of Greensboro, NC; Eight Grandchildren; Four Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 E. Fourth Ave, Red Springs, NC 28377. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church, 400 N Fayetteville St, Lumber Bridge, NC 28357, with Reverend Dr. David Hudson officiating. Burial will be at the Centre Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 224 Oxendine School Road, Maxton, NC 28364. Memorials may be made to Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church or a Charity of your choice.
