

Amelia "Jayne" Whitfield died on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. She was born March 21, 1943 to Oliver and Florence Williams in Nash County. She was a graduate of Bunn High School in 1961 and attended Hardbarger Business College.
Prior to marriage she was employed by the North Carolina Department of Water Resources. After her children were born, she was blessed to be a full time mom and homemaker. She was an excellent Mother and wife, she raised her children to be fine and honest adults, always putting her family first.
After her children were in college she began working in the beauty business, eventually owning a salon until retiring in 2000. After her retirement from the salon business, she enjoyed handcrafting, painting and attending art classes and seminars. She also enjoyed attending gospel singings and conventions. She enjoyed singing some of the several dozen songs the Lord inspired her to write. Spending time with grandchildren was a special time for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jerome Oliver Williams and Florence Anderson Williams.
She is survived by her husband Dale; son Kenneth Whitfield (Andrea) and their children Dylan and Rhiann of Raleigh; and daughter Tina Staples (Chris) and sons Cameron Brown, Tyler and Alex Staples all of Wake Forest; brother Ronnie Williams (Marie) of Zebulon; sister Deborah Brannan (Russell) of Zebulon; several nieces and nephews.
