Barbara Allred King

Barbara’s love for Jesus was the guiding light of her life. She poured that love and faith into her children and grandchildren, teaching them not only with her words but through her steadfast example. She shared the joy of her faith with countless others, touching lives in ways both quiet and profound. A devoted choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Bible Study leader, she faithfully used her gifts to serve the Lord, her church, and her community. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love, kindness, goodness, humility, and patience that will continue to shape the lives of all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Lynn Robinson (David); her two children, Dawn Lenns (John) and Chris King (Anjie); and four grandchildren, Claire Ferri (Chris), Wren King, Andrew King, and Eliza King. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, and brothers, David Allred and James Allred; a grandson, Grant King, and a great granddaughter, Sloane Ferri.

The family would like to extend gratitude and thanks to her “sister,” Bettie Morrow, who she met later in life and who helped tremendously in her journey. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff at Rex/UNC Hospital, the memory care team at Waltonwood Lake Boone, and Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion.

Barbara’s life will be remembered and celebrated by her immediate family in April.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to Samaritan’s Purse be considered in Barbara’s honor.
