Craig Eric Goodman

17 June, 197014 October, 2019

Craig Eric Goodman, 49, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, October 14th. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Craig is survived by his father, Allan Goodman and his wife Barbara Chamberlain; mother, Clara Hope Goodman (Roles); wife, Julianna Goodman; their children, Isabeau Goodman and Isaac Goodman; and his brother Todd Goodman and sister-in-law, Rebecca Morley.

Craig was born in Wichita, Kansas and grew up in Manhattan, Kansas where he graduated from Kansas State University. Craig made his way to Los Angeles and made a career for himself as a Principal Technical Artist at Insomniac Games. Craig’s talent was the inspiration for dozens of artists and programmers over the years. His love of people, nature, art and life were truly infectious, and Craig moved through life with humor, courage and boundless optimism.

Craig’s true life and love, beyond video games, was his family. He will be remembered lovingly for his patience, resolve and desire to learn and challenge what he knew about the diseases that afflicted his daughter as well as himself.

Isaac Goodman shared “My dad is a good person. His spirit is now in my stuffed animal which is the bear he left me before he passed. I talk and sleep with the bear all the time now because I miss dad so much!”

Isabeau Goodman shared “My dad was a kind, polite and caring person. Most importantly, he played with me even though he was really tired and sick. He was just an amazing human being. I love and miss him so much.”

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, and will be followed by a Celebration of Life tribute to Craig at Mitchell Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend.

I'm so happy I was able to be at this lunch and that Craig was able to join us. He was always so energetic and positive, even here, despite going through a surgery. I'll miss his giant sly smile and youthful exuberance. His positivity and problem solving nature are unmatched and he will be missed.

We are all at a loss without him.

'Until we meet Heaven
by Elaine Alcedo

Craig was God's Sacred Gift from Heaven
who came to fulfill a Divine Purpose
to Shine his Light with the Beauty of his Soul

Radiating Divine Essence
A smile, a hug, listening ear
Husband, father, son, brother and dear friend
who touched so many throughout his life

A journey that was Divinely planned
Though short, was a powerful Divine force to everyone
Blessings of LOVE whom he touched
with his beautiful heart

The LOVE & LIGHT he shared, left an empowering precious gift to all who came along his path
Divine Blessings of sweet loving joyful memories
that remains an 'Inspiration' to all and continues on
Living Life to the fullest in 'Divine abundance'

An Angel in Disguise, Divine Sacred Gift, who came to Earth, now went home to Heaven - his Spirit lives on 'within our hearts'
Thank you for 'Gracing' us with your Love & Light,
the Shining Divine Radiance of your 'Heart and Soul'

Until we meet Heaven!!!

So many wonderful memories from so long ago. Craig was one of those people who helped me discover me. We shared a life journey for a short time in college. A person you share so much with that they never truly leave you. The world is a bit dimmer today without Craig. Perhaps all that amazing energy he shared must live on in each of us. Remember him always and that amazing *grin* he shared with us. Support and love his family as that would be his greatest ask and need.

Craiger-son, we didn’t have to say a lot of words to know the feelings we shared. It was a great honor for Gene & I to have shared laughter, tears, airplane rides, weddings and to hear you speak with pride about your family. I recall you telling me,
“ Auntie K, Jules is the most amazing Mom!” And you an amazing Dad. You are one of our ‘Heart-Son’s’ and forever you will stay in our hearts!
Now you can really fly on that full beautiful moon!

Craig was my friend and I'd like to think he and I shared a kind of synergy. He was a brilliant artist, I was an aspiring composer. We spent long evenings doing what we loved best in college - art and music, working in the same room. I don't know that I can explain how special that was in words... It was as though we shared one brain for while. Funny story, it was Craig who showed me how to climb over the wall to get into the computer lab after hours.

He inspired me.

My only regret is that we couldn't do more.

To Craig's family: My heart aches for you! Craig was a rare person who's good truly could eclipse the brightness of the sun. You'll be in my thoughts. His memory forever etched in my mind.

So many memories. Tiny ice rink hockey on Wednesday nights, Craig designing the Lucky Brewgrill sign and recommending me to make sign. They go on and on. For me the best memory is a man who was full of love and left a possessive impact on this earth. Gods speed my friend!

Some of the best times of my life were hanging out with the neighborhood group at the top of the hill. Craig, Todd, Bill, Stacey, Glenn, and I experienced so many wonderful things together growing up. Craig was creative, humorous, and, above all else, kind. Craig will always remain a part of all of us, especially that close-knit group of neighborhood kids.
