

Daniel Edmund Bayley, 92, died Saturday, October 6, 2012. Born in 1920, in Minneapolis, Minn., he was the son of Raymond E. Bayley and Lillian Mayn Bayley. He graduated from Millersburg Military Institute in Kentucky and from Loyola University, Chicago, in 1942. Dan served as a Naval Aviator from 1943-1945 returning to Chicago after the war. In June 1946 he married Marie Keating, and went to work for International Cellucotton Products Company in Chicago. He then went to work for Kimberly-Clark, Co., and moved to Raleigh in 1953.
Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie, in July of this year; by his parents; his brother, Raymond E., Jr.; his brother, William; and sister, Mary Alice; as well as by his sons, Daniel E., Jr. and Robert J. Bayley.
He and Marie were founding members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; he was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, and he avidly pursued interests in bridge, tennis and sailing.
He is survived by one brother, Richard, of Bellingham, Wash.; seven children: William (Dana), Michael (Sharon), Mary Pat Devay (Dan), Thomas, and James, all of Raleigh; Carolyn Woltjen (James) of New Bern; Charles (April) of Ellenboro; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012, with a reception to follow in the Fallon Center. Interment will follow the reception at Raleigh Memorial Park.
