Doris Batchelor Meritt, 87, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was born in Nashville, North Carolina on October 30, 1927 to Baldey and Bessie Ward Batchelor. She lived all her married life in Raleigh.
She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Joseph E. (Jay) Meritt, in 1992; four sisters, Delia Batchelor, Ruby Batchelor Taylor, Vernon Batchelor Griffin, and Helen Ricks Batchelor; and one brother, William E. (Champ) Batchelor. She is survived by two nieces, Janet Taylor Moore and Lorraine Batchelor.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville on Friday, March 13th at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice; Hospice of Wake County/Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh; or Alexander Family YMCA, 1603 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh; or to D. H. Hill Library at NCSU, 2 Broughton Drive Raleigh, NC 27695.
Arrangements in Raleigh will be made by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street.
