Doris was born in Pickens, SC on January 24, 1942, to the late James A. Keith and Doris J. Keith. She graduated valedictorian in 1959 from Pickens High School and from Wake Forest University in 1963 with a major in psychology.
Doris was just a very fine Christian person. Normally smiling and upbeat about life. She spent a lot of time being a good mother and wife and was very proud that her children excelled at tennis and graduated on time from UNC – Chapel Hill.
She was an accomplished tennis and golf player and when not occupied with family or part time work, she played tennis with her friends and teammates and later in life, golf with the ladies' golf team at her golf club.
Both children moved to Raleigh after college, so after a few years retired at the coast, she and her husband Bob moved to Raleigh to be close to family. They lived in Raleigh for a few years after getting married in 1965. It was good to return after 32 years in Charlotte.
Doris is survived by her husband Bobby (Bob) of Raleigh, her son Robert K. Stanley and wife Miller of Raleigh, her daughter Susan E. Stanley of Raleigh, her grandson James (Jimbo) Stanley of Raleigh, and granddaughter, Holden Clark and her husband Matthew of Charleston, SC.
