Faith Frye Norwood

Faith is survived by her two children: Cathy Dobbins and her husband Jim, residents of Durham, NC; and Mike, a resident of Marietta, GA. Faith also has one grandson, Scott Dobbins, who is married to Summer Xie. They live in Larchmont, NY and have one son Theo.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Wilkins Norwood, their first-born son Gregory Hart Norwood, and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Scott Norwood.

Faith was born on November 26,1929 in Orlando FL to Scott Banks Fry and Sue Yancey Fry. She graduated from Meredith College in 1952 with a degree in music. She married Joe Norwood just four months later in Orlando, FL. As a young couple they moved often but eventually settled in Lillington NC from 1956-64, Clinton, NC from 1964-1968, and Coraopolis, PA from 1968-73. Joe tragically died in an airplane crash in November 1972, and the family relocated to be near family in Raleigh, NC in June 1973.

Faith went back to Meredith College in 1973 to earn her education certification and began teaching music in Harnett County Schools from 1974-1994. She retired and moved back to Orlando, FL where she lived until she moved to Durham, NC in 2017.

A memorial service to celebrate Faith's life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:30 pm in the Chapel at Croasdaile Village, 2600 Croasdaile Farm Pkwy, Durham, NC 27705. A reception will immediately follow the memorial service at Croasdaile Village. Interment will be private at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC.
