Harold Richard Love, 90, passed away on September 22, 2016 at Duke University Hospital. He was born in Concord, NC to Rev. J. Loyd Love and Mae Gasa Love. After High School, he served in the U.S. Army after which he attended and graduated from High Point University.
He enjoyed a long career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where he received numerous awards as Manager of the Year. He retired in 1994 after many illustrious years. Several colleagues in the U.S. and other countries have lauded him as their best manager. He enjoyed golfing and traveling throughout the U.S. The love of his life for over 70 years was his wife, Mel (Mary Evelyn) Lowder Love; and his family brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Frances Love and Maxine Edwards and niece Deborah Gerner.
He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Gerner and Betty Hunsucker; wife, Mel Love; son, Deane Love; granddaughter, Wendi Love (Aaron Dillow); nephews, Gary Hunsucker and Mark Gerner; and other family and friends.
The Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016, with visitation from 1-3 pm at the family home in Chapel Hill and burial to follow at Markham Cemetery.
