Harvey was born July 21, 1937 in Pitt County, North Carolina. At a very young age, he was taken in by the late James and Ruby Moore, who raised him as though he was their son. He was educated in Pitt County public schools. He was employed for 26 years with IBM, retiring in 1992.
Harvey loved and worked hard in short term missions. He had a passion for helping others, and enjoyed fishing and golfing in his free time.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Mary Frances Linton Nanney; Harvey is survived by his daughters, Terry Marlene Nanney of Raleigh, NC, and Tracy Nanney McMullen, and her husband Brian, of Round Hill, VA; grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, Stephanie, and Laura; and great grandchildren John and Miles; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
