

Helen Harmon McGraw was born in Pacolet, S.C. on September 15, 1925 and passed away on December 23, 2022. Her parents were Albert and Inez Harmon of Pacolet, SC. Helen met Alton McGraw at Pacolet High School and they married after he returned from service in WWII. They moved to Raleigh, NC in 1953 and remained there until their passing.
Helen was a homemaker until her children left home. She was always involved in her church and family life. She was a wonderful, loving and caring mother and grandmother who led a meaningful life and touched the hearts and souls of everyone around her. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Farmington Woods Elementary School and the Tammy Lynn Center. She and Alton were very involved in organizing bus trips from Edenton St. United Methodist Church to New York and other locations.
Helen is survived by daughter, Libby; son, Alton and his wife Barbara; two grandsons, Alex and Jackson; and great grandsons, Andrew and William.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Joseph G. Brown Chapel at Edenton Street United Methodist Church.
