

John David Green, 54, passed away on August 19, 2016, at his home in Beverly Hills California, after a brief illness. David, as he was known to his family, was born on February 6, 1962 to Sara Catherine Cleaver (Robertson) and Larry L. Robertson in Ishpeming, Michigan. Sara and Larry later divorced and Sara remarried Winford Ira Green and settled in Topeka, Kansas. David attended Randolph Grade School, Boswell Jr. High and Topeka High School and spent most of his childhood at Lake Wabaunsee with his friends, minibike, dog Gus and a cat Natasha. During his senior year in high school he joined the US Marine Corps and was stationed in California and Japan. Not long after his discharge, he started taking flying lessons at the Lawrence, KS, municipal airport where he gained hours towards various ratings. He then attended Central Missouri State University and earned his associate s degree in aviation aeronautics. This allowed David to pursue his lifelong dream of flying jets. David was employed by many carriers over his long career including Kitty Hawk, Northwest, and Delta where he was made captain last year. In 1991, David married Anne Elizabeth Brennan from Pasadena California. In 1994, they welcomed their beloved daughter, Catherine Anne, into the world in Raleigh, North Carolina. David and Anne later divorced. His second daughter, Madison Green, was born in 2004 and lives with her family in Michigan.
David loved flying airplanes, nice cars, good conversation and a well-made suit. His daughters were the apples of his eye and he loved them with all his heart. He will be remembered for his good heart he would do anything for his friends.
John David is survived by his daughters Catherine and Madison, his mother, Sara Cleaver Green, Creve Coeur, Missouri, his sister, Laura Ann Green, Baldwin City, Kansas, his brother, Rob Robertson (Jennifer) and his nephew Joseph, New York, NY, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his fathers, Larry L. Robertson and Winford Ira Green, and his step-mother, June P. Robertson.
Services will be October 9 at 2:00pm at the Eskridge cemetery, reception following at the Lake. A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, October 22nd at 10:30am at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
