Kelley passed away early Monday morning with her adoring husband, Don, by her side. Kelley graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1987 – East Carolina University in 1991 and Watts School of Nursing in 1993
Kelley devoted her career in the cardiac/cath lab unit and loved nursing. Doctors and patients adored her. Kelley had a huge passion for animals. Horses were Kelley’s first true love – Cook’s El Sir Ray was her horse she showed many times. Neighbors knew how much Kelley loved dogs that one was left on her porch with peanut butter and a note. Kelley did not hesitate and loved Leo for his entire life. There wasn’t a stray she did feel the need to take in, care for and love. Kelley and Don had a wonderful, loving, devoted relationship with each other that will continue until the end of time.
Kelley is survived by her husband Don Dietz; her stepson, Colten Dietz; her beloved three dogs (Hobo, Boomer, and Abbie); her parents Riley and Mickey Pleasants; her sister, Lee Makepeace (David); her nephew, Turner Makepeace and niece, Hannah Makepeace.
There will be a family only celebration of life on July 10th.
If you would like to donate in Kelley’s honor, please do so to the American Diabetes Association or the SPCA of Wake County.
