

Lois was born and raised in Pulaski, VA. She attended Radford University, and during World War II she worked in the munitions factory in Radford. She married the late Thomas Leftwich Wilkerson in 1945, and in 1952 they moved to Raleigh. She was retired from the North Carolina Legislature, where she worked as a clerk for over 20 years.
Lois was an avid bridge player; she was a longtime member of the Claremont Road Bridge Club with a group of neighbors who remained lifelong friends. She was a member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, and for many years was a member of the choir.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death a brother, George Russell; and a dear brother-in-law, John K. Wilkerson.
Surviving are her son, Tom Wilkerson, Jr. and fiancé, Penny Ward of Raleigh; granddaughter, Lisa Wilkerson; grandsons, John Wilkerson, and Jack Ward, both of Raleigh; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. John K. Wilkerson of Gaithersburg, MD.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 13th at 2:00 pm at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after the graveside at the cemetery.
