Marie Elledge Hobson

Marie Elledge Hobson passed away October 2, 2018, surrounded by loving family members. Born on August 10, 1935, to Travis and Minnie Elledge, Marie grew up in Wilkes County, NC. In 1960 she married Leroy Hobson, and they were blessed with 58 years together, living most of those years in Raleigh, NC. She worked for some years with Gay and Taylor Insurance and was active in the National Association of Insurance Women. Marie was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She also had a gift for making and staying in touch with special friends, some of whom she had known since she was in high school. . Marie was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church, where she and Leroy were married, and where they enjoyed working with children in Sunday School for many years.

In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Steve Broome, and two grandsons, Joshua and Matthew Broome; two sisters, Sue McGrady and Carol Brantley, as well as two brothers, Jerry Elledge and Carl Elledge. Her brother Delmas Elledge predeceased her. In addition, she leaves a number of nieces and nephews and in-laws.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6, from 2 -3 pm at Mitchell’s Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. Services will be held in the funeral Home chapel at 3pm, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. Reception will follow the services at Mitchell Funeral Home.
