Matthew Thomas Ryan, born on March 9, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 55. Known for being adventurous, beloved, brave, hard-working, gentle, kind-hearted, loyal, patient, selfless, and thoughtful, Matthew left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Raised in Newtown, Connecticut, Matthew graduated from NC State University in 1995 with a degree in Civil Engineering. His dedication and passion in his field were evident throughout his career.
Matthew is survived by his wife of 34 years, Martha; daughter, Nev; son, Jason; brothers, Steve and Rick; sister, MaryAnn; and his mother, Carole. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He had a love for traveling, attending Minnesota Vikings football games, boating, and spending time with family and friends. Matthew also enjoyed playing games, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
A funeral service will be held at All Saints Antiochian Orthodox Church, located at 520 Buck Jones Rd, Raleigh, NC 27606, on December 26, 2025, at 11:00am. The family will receive visitors prior to the service, beginning at 10am. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
