He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Nigeria, where he excelled in academics. He proceeded to study Law at North Carolina Central University and graduated as Juris Doctor. He also studied at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where he graduated with an LLM Degree in Petroleum/Oil and Gas. He was called to the North Carolina State Bar and Federal Courts in 1999. He worked with the Law Offices of James E. Hairston, Jr., Frasier & Griffin, PLLC, as a Civil Litigation Attorney and lastly Hudson Legal until his untimely death. He was a member of several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, George H. White Bar Association, and 14th Judicial District of Durham, North Carolina.
An avid sports man, he played soccer and hockey at the highest level for his High School. He was a devoted and passionate Liverpool Fan. He made a memorable trip to Anfield with his family to see his team take on Atlectico, Madrid during the season opener. He played Tennis during his spare time and was very competitive during his games. He enjoyed Ludo and Monopoly and always tried his hands on Ayo Olopon.
Olubayo was a man of uncompromising integrity and had genuine respect for people. He was a Christian and believer of the gospel. He was an active member of Jubilee Christian Church International, Chapel of Victory, in Durham, North Carolina. He served as an Usher, a member of the building committee, and an executive member of the Men Fellowship.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dr. Onoliode O. Agbetunsin, daughter Ebunoluwa, and parents, Jacob and Eunice Agbetunsin. He will be greatly missed by sisters, brothers, father-in-law and mother-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service and Burial will take place on October 29th, 2011, at 2:00pm, at the Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina 27612. There will be a Visitation on Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm and on Saturday from 1:00pm – 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at his Wake Keeping on Friday, October 28, 2011, from 6:00–9:00pm, at The Triangle Bridge Club, 5110 Revere Road, Durham, North Carolina 27713.
