

Patricia Ann O’Donnell, 89, passed away on September 30, 2018 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Born on October 19, 1928 in Lowell, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence Welch Higgins, sister of the late Joan Hood, and wife of the late William Robert O’Donnell.
Patricia moved from Lowell with her husband when his job in the textile industry took them to live in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. She made many friends along the way and moved back to the Raleigh area to be near her children when her husband died in 1986. Patricia enjoyed traveling, especially to York Beach, Maine, where she used to visit her beloved Aunt Kay, and she passed down the love of York Beach to her children & grandchildren. At one time, she was quite a good golfer, even winning a tournament once. But her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her two children: Joan O’Donnell Price and husband Richard, of Clayton, NC; Kevin O’Donnell and wife Sharon, of Cary, NC; five grandchildren: Melissa Price Kromm and husband Chris, Victoria Price, and William, David, and Jason O’Donnell; three great-grandchildren: Ella, Alec and Anya Kromm; cousin: Jack O’Rourke and wife Carolyn and their children, John Thomas and Josephine, all of Potomac, MD; brother-in-law: John O’Donnell of Verona, NJ; nieces: Mary O’Donnell Hulme and her husband James, of New York City and Kathy O’Donnell Schlatter and husband Ben and their children, Elizabeth and Thomas, all of Essex Fells, NJ; nephew: Tom O’Donnell and his wife Kelly of Caldwell, NJ and their daughter Kelsy O’Donnell of New York and their son Sean and his wife Jennifer and children Maggie and Caroline, all of Mechanicsville, VA; nephew: Walter O’Donnell and his wife Betty, of Derry, NH; nephew: John Patrick O’Donnell, of The Woodlands, TX; and other family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 11-12 noon at St. Raphael Catholic Church (5801 Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh), with a Funeral Mass to be held at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
