Dads we know that you are with Guilford and all our dearly departed ones. We continue to pray ....we will always  love you  ❤️ Continue to looks after us especially Mom. 

Uncle Pedring shared very interesting stories with us as he gathered all of us around the fire while chopping and cooking vegetables for the piggery in New Lucban. I still remember fondly all the laughter, jokes and life lessons we picked up from these afternoon stories. He exemplified the best example of an educator- learning with him was fun, entertaining and delivered with such expertise that I did not feel that it was an actual life lesson.  

My personal memory that I have with Uncle Pedring was our numerous afternoon chess matches as he wanted a break from his intense studying while doing his post graduate degrees. He would call me down to his house, offered me merienda on a rainy afternoon and start our match. He had a tendency to voice out his thoughts which of course gave away his strategic plan- if I move this, he might move this, if I eat this, he might eat this. Then I thought why does he do this if he wanted to win so much? Now, as I gained my years, I realized that if you have reached a certain maturity level, it is no longer about the winning or losing but the giving. He was giving me a chess lesson  without me even knowing it. He would then shift the conversation while playing into different aspects, my dream, my hopes, my cousins, my lolas, my lolo, uncles and aunties and tried to help me understand them more.

Not stopping there, he gave me all the support to help me migrate to New Zealand and told me not to forget my brothers and sisters  (referring to all my cousins). I wouldn't be where I am if not for my Uncle Pedring. Thank you very much and may you rest in peace now that you have finally caught up with Guilford and are now playing an eternal chess game with lots of laughter, jokes and love.
