

Richard H. Floyd died peacefully with family on May 4, 2015 at the age of 67. Rick was born on September 21, 1947 in Raleigh, NC. He loved to travel and lived in Long Beach, CA for a while, but returned to live in NC with his family. Rick was a gentle soul that never met a stranger, surrounded himself in the love of his family, and was loved by so many in return. He lived by a deep passion for the sea and was never more at home than at the helm of his sailboat. Rick was also an avid outdoorsman, scuba diver, hunter, and fisherman.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard H. Floyd II and Robin Floyd of Raleigh; daughter, Brandy Davis of Clayton; grandchildren, Matthew and Connor Davis, Liam and Ophelia Floyd; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Floyd of Cary; sister-in-law, Wanda Callanan of Wake Forest; nieces, nephews, and an entire extended family of his friends and coworkers that he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George F. Floyd of Raleigh; and brother, Duncan J. Floyd of Raleigh.
Family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 6-7pm, with a memorial service following at 7pm at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2920 NC 42 West, Clayton, NC 27520. In lieu of flowers, please help the family to honor Rick by investing in random acts of kindness just as he would.
