

Mr. Whitley will be remembered for being devoted to his family, his love of fishing, gardening, and his service to his country. He served in the Army-Air Corp in the China Berma India theatre in WWII. A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a degree in Business Administra¬tion and Philosophy. He spent his career in both the private and public sectors in human resources and economic devel¬opment. He also chartered Boy Scout Troop # 357 at Highland United Methodist Church.
A devoted husband of 62 years to Frances Harmon Whit¬ley, sons; Cullen E. Whitley, Robert T. Whitley and wife, Brenda, Andrew H. Whitley and wife, Kim, grandchildren; Ryan Whitley, Laura Whitley, and Drew Whitley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Asa T. Whitley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Highland United Methodist Church, 1901 Ridge Rd., Raleigh at 1:30 p.m. with a visitation/reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, Raleigh or the Boy Scouts of America.
