Ruth Perry Hagwood

Ruth Perry Hagwood, 96, of Raleigh died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Raleigh Rehab. Ruth was a native and life long resident of Raleigh, she was the daughter of the late, Peat and Clara Perry. For many years she worked as a meat wrapper for Winn Dixie and Jimmy's Downtown Market.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Compton M. Hagwood; a sister, Lottie Mae Robinson; and a brother, Percy M. Perry.

She is survived by her daughter, Clara L. Ruth and husband , Jimmy L. Ruth of Apex; 4 grandchildren, Lee Ruth, Denise Duty, Karen Rowe, and Laurie Luongo; 3 great grandchildren, Jennifer Duty, Chris Duty, and Aaron Duty and his wife, Bekah; 1 great great- grandchild, Alexa Duty; a sister, Mildred P. Stephens and her husband, Frank; 3 nieces and 1 nephew .

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 2pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 pm at Brown-Wynne. Burial will follow the service at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
