Samuel Ned Roberts

Samuel Ned Roberts, 90, of Raleigh, died Friday July 1, 2016 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was born August 16, 1925 in Lancaster County, South Carolina. Samuel was the son of the late Lewis Raymond Roberts and Ella Morris Roberts.

Samuel retired in 1987 from Gregory Poole Equipment Company in Raleigh, where he was employed as a bookkeeper/accountant. He was a very social person and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Samuel was an avid NC State fan. He enjoyed venturing out on trips to see what was new around the community. Samuel enjoyed many weekends watching NASCAR racing. He will be missed by his men’s group that met Thursday mornings for coffee at Bojangles, a time he enjoyed weekly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Pace Roberts and his sisters: Doris Roberts, and Sarah Iler, both of Raleigh and Sybil Helms of Lancaster, South Carolina.

He is survived by his daughter Debra Roberts Beeson and her husband Brad of Bluff City, TN, and his sister Nancy Roberts of Raleigh, four grandchildren: Patrick and his wife Lindsay and their daughter King, Eric, Elizabeth, and Christopher.

The family would like to thank Isabella Moranga for all of her dedication in caring for Samuel.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday July 6, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 300 Saint Mary’s St. Raleigh, where a time of visitation will follow the service. Committal services will be held at 2:30pm at the Bailey Town Cemetery in Bailey, NC.
