Sarah Willhoit Peck

Sarah Willhoit Peck, 85, currently of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on January 9, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ray Peck and her parents, Kathleen and James Willhoit.

She was a teacher and home maker. She loved to teach and loved working with children. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a loving wife to her late husband, Richard, of 61 years. They said that their secret to a long marriage was always putting the other first. All family and friends can find comfort in her lifelong philosophy of, "It'll all work out."

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Richard Peck, and his wife, Carol of Washington, WV, and Douglas Edward Peck, and his wife, Elaine of Hixson, TN; daughter, Karen Peck Tyson, and her husband, Jeff of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Faith, David and his wife Kelta, Benjamin, and Nicholas; a great-granddaughter, Caprica; sister, Sue Monroe of Soddy-Daisy, TN; several nieces; nephews; and other family and friends.

The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Sunrise of Raleigh for the dedicated and exceptional care given to Sarah over the last two years.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
