Sayed always had a warm hello for visitors and staff coming to the New Hope Center. He got to know my son from a few visits and was always glad to see him. We will both miss him and want to wish his family well and let them know how much he was appreciated professional and personally.

My uncle and I had made up a song of our own in German. “I am Marghuba” he would sing to me, and my response was always “I am Koko Jaan” and he would hug and hold me tight. I have so many fond memories of my uncle in their home with my late Aunt when we first came to America in 1997. While Yama and Jawid taught us English those first few months by playing Monopoly and watching movies with us, my uncle Khalil jaan would take us on camping trips, buy us a ton of pizza and nurture us with his sweet smile and stories with ice cream. He worked so hard to provide for his family, and an additional 5 members that had just moved in with them. He was loving. He was kind. He loved Ama Hasina Jaan and his children more than anything in this world. My dad would tell us so many stories of his bravery, and that he was more than a brother in law... he was a brother. We are deeply saddened by his tragic and sudden loss from this world, and will pray for him and my sweet Ama Hasina Jaan. They are united once again, smiling together, and watching over their children and grandchildren. May Allah give you the highest of Jannah. 

My father professor Dr Muti  US PE . told us about him He was good students when he was my student at the afghan institute of technology and engineering faculty .He was was fast learner and  he was lessening always to my world

There aren't enough words to describe the love you showed to all, I'm so heartbroken, I could write a book about all the wonderful things you've done for me and all of us @ NCDOT.  Rest In Peace my dear friend, I'll miss you.

I am truly saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Sayed.  He knew the names of everyone who came past his post, and always greeted me with a smile. He never failed to ask me how I was doing.  He was diligent in his profession, yet he brought a friendly demeanor that added a special personal touch.  I know I speak for many when I say he will be sincerely missed. 

May Sayed Rest In Peace and continue to watch over us.

Syed was a very helpful person. I remember my first few days at office when I was unable to find my way to my desk, he always helped me find my way to the desk.

Sayed is remembered with admiration and respect.  His kindness and positivity were always welcomed and I'll miss his kinship.  I'm hoping his family and friends can find peace.

It's very difficult for me to forget Syed's smiling face as I had always been greeted by that welcoming personality everyday I enter office. He even knew few Indian words which he would occasionally use to ensure a moment of humor when ever I come across him. He was very meticulous in his work and did a great deal of due diligence in maintaining the office secure. He was such a noble hearted personality and always helpful for everyone around him.  I am going to miss him a lot. Syed has nobly won his race of life and now he has left behind a bunch of beautiful memories for everyone who has crossed his path. I convey my heartfelt condolences for all his near and dear ones and pray for God's peace and comfort with them in this tiring times.  God bless you all!

So sorry to hear about Sayed's passing.  I would see him each morning as I went in to work.  He'd greet me with a smile and we both would say hello to each other.  He was a very nice person and was always  willing to help when he could.  Sayed and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

It immensely saddens me to write about the loss of my Uncle Khalil. My childhood memories of going to Anaheim, California are synonymous with my Uncle. Your kindness to me will never be forgotten. Your warmth will never be cooled. Your memory will be celebrated. I love you, Uncle. Send my greetings to Aunt Hasina while you're up there. 

My name is Husnia and Uncle Khali Jan was my Amma Hasina jans husband. Uncle Khalil Jan was always a good Uncle to us. You see my parents and Yama jan’s parents have always traveled together and lived nearby since we were born in Kabul. We were all babies when we became refugees as we were leaving the soviet invasion. This is when my father told me the story of bravery. Men and women and children were separated. My Dad, uncle  Khalil Jan and others were together.. They walked on foot through forests and mountains.. At one point they had to get through a rapid river.. and nearby there were soviet soldiers/snipers. As they were crossing with the vitals they carried in their bags.. My Uncle Khalil was right behind my dad.. My dad looked and his head was under water and he was able to dive and get him back upfloat. He saved him from drowning.. After some time later still in the rapid river, the soldiers noticed our dads and started to shoot. Uncle Khalil Jan was able to grab my dad at the right time and away from the target. He saved him! True heroes and every time my dad would tell us the stories of the 80s we would just be in awe in how important it was to always trust each other. They were a band of brothers. Uncle Jan you are and will be missed dearly by us all. I would call him yearly and I could tell over the phone that his eyes would light up and be so appreciative and happy. I was thinking of him the day before we heard of the tragic news. We are devastated. I have always loved Yama and Jawid jan as my brothers and always will. I wish the entire Hashemyan family peace and Sabre.

Sayed was the first smiling face I would see as I entered the office in the morning. He would always have a kind word and an awesome personality, and I looked forward to that every morning. Even when I moved to a different area of the building, it was such a joy to see him throughout the day. He was a hard worker and he loved people. Sayed will be sadly missed and was such a wonderful part of NCDOT. Many heartfelt prayers to his family as we are thinking of you during this time. 

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:26).


Sayed was such a wonderful person to work with.  He did a great job and he will be missed.

I'll miss Sayed's smile and good nature at work. He was kind, friendly and knowledgeable, and I'm glad to have known him. 

I am very sorry to hear about Sayed's passing.  He was always very helpful and friendly to everyone at New Hope Center.  I remember one morning that I found a wallet in the parking lot and turned it in to him - he went out of his way to locate the owner, who lived close to the New Hope building, and he returned the wallet to the individual. He then let me know the outcome of delivering the wallet. It's the little things that show Sayed's character. I will miss him and his smile.  Deepest sympathy and condolences to his family.

Stayed was such a sweet man. Always had a smile on his face and kind words to all he met.  He was a joy to work with. I will miss him at the office.  Lifting his wife and family up in prayers during this sad time.

 Sayed was kind, helpful, thoughtful, and always so friendly and upbeat.  He was one of the security guards at a NC DOT IT building in Raleigh where I work.  I very much enjoyed knowing him, and will miss him.  I am very sorry to hear of his passing and give my deepest sympathy and condolences to his family.

As a fellow colleague in our IT Building, I got to have some good memories with him. He was always very courteous, generous whenever there was a need for us to let into the building in case I forgot my batch. He was very polite and used to strike a conversation and make us at ease. Often, we used to walk around buildings and he used to share his memories and in particular he was proud of his family and let me see the pictures of his house. He was very neat in maintaining his cabin and always used to greet us any time of the day with his every smiling face. I dearly miss him. It is so unfortunate that I did not see him in recent days due to COVID. May his soul rest in peace.

I'm so sorry to hear of Sayed's unexpected passing.  He was just a kind and gentle man, always such a joy to see first thing in the morning with a smile on his face.  His presence made the New Hope Center feel like home.

Engineer khalil was great man  kind. Honest and educate  person . 



It has been many years since I've seen my uncle however the memories I have of him will stay with me forever. He was the first person to greet my family and I at the airport upon our arrival to America. Not only was he the first person to greet us but also opened up his home and heart to us. I will never forget his generosity. One of my favorite memories was a random night at his home. He had spent the entire day working, then came home and help prepare dinner for 9 people, it was an amazing feast. However the spoiled 6 year old me wasn't in the mood for afghan food that night. He took one look at me and knew it, he came to me and said " what would you like jan-pader" and of course I said I'm ok and that ill eat the food he had prepared, but he knew I was lying. Then he took me under his shoulder and pulled me aside and said " no, seriously if you could have anything, what would you like?" I then shyly looked up and said "pizza." He went upstairs grabbed his jacket and wallet and left without saying anything. 30minutes later when food was being served he came home with not one but six pizzas. One for each child and one for the parents to share. When my parents saw the pizza, they were confused as to why he had brought pizza when his wife (my aunt) had spent the entire day making a feast. They asked why, and all he said was " I felt like having pizza" and gave me a wink. Thats the kind of man my uncle was, a kind hearted man who would do anything to put a smile on a child's face. I am truly grateful for the time I got to spend with him and that I was able to call him, my uncle. He will forever live on in my memories and heart. He was the definition of an amazing uncle that would do anything for his nephew and nieces. Eventhough he set the bar extremely high, I aspire to be that kind of uncle to my nephew and niece. I would like to believe that he is finally at peace and reunite with my aunt. May he and my aunt look over us. I love you uncle, thank you for eveything.
