Simon graduated from Broughton High School where “Bulldog” was named Captain of the football team. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of hard work, wealth of selflessness and his devotion to his family, faith and friends. Throughout his health challenges late in his life, Simon’s positive attitude and strength of character never wavered. After graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in Engineering, he served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Germany. He spent many years working in the construction industry in the Raleigh area on both residential and commercial projects. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, boating and fishing as well as being an avid music fan. Obvious to all who knew him well was his other passion - NC State sports. He always enjoyed supporting the Wolfpack even while residing in Chapel Hill. His greatest joy was his devotion to loving his children, grandchildren, great-grandson and church.
