Terry was my basketball coach at TCA in Arlington Texas. He also taught me typing and algebra. I still tell folks that the only reason I type so well is that I felt I had better do well in that class so that I could get playing time on the basketball court. It probably wasn't true but it made me try extra hard. I also have a vivid memory of driving up with him to the closest convenience store to grab Gatorade before practice. I had Bon Jovi's Bad Medicine on cassette in my green Pontiac and Terry told me that it probably wasn't the best musical choice to make. He was right. Terry was a great coach and teacher and I have nothing but fond memories of him.

I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Evans.  He was my computer teacher in high school.  He was so laid back and patient with his students. It was a bright spot in my day attending his class.  He was steady, faithful, and cared about others.  His godly legacy is a wonderful example for his family and former students.  Vince and I are praying for peace and comfort for Mrs. Evans, Luke, Mark, and their families.  

I was shocked and terribly saddened to learn of Terry's passing. While I only met Terry in person once, I could tell he was a gentle and kind soul. As our HR manager at O2 for years, he was imminently helpful and resourceful, and patient with my questions. I take solace knowing he was a Christian; we can look forward to seeing him in the future.

Mr Evans was our 8th grade Bible teacher at GCA and remember much from his class.  He had a way of teaching sometimes boring subjects differently.  He took the time to get to know us and that always stayed with me.  He allowed me to be his varsity basketball manager for a season due to my lack of skills in that arena and I like to think I served him well.  Mr Evans was only at our school for short time but he left an impression that translated to my own coaching and I thank him for that.  Mrs Evans, Luke and Mark, we are sorry for your loss and pray for comfort and peace.  

So sorry to hear this news. I have vivid and fond memories of being at 3 of your houses in Chesapeake/Portsmouth hanging out with Luke and Mark. I remember getting in the car with Mr. Evans and he always had sports talk radio on… I didn’t like it much back then but ironically enough I listen to it for several hours a day now. He was kind and always opened his homes to me. Good times! Sorry for your loss Mrs. Evans, Luke, and Mark. Praying for you guys!

So many memories come to mind as I remember the teen years in Alaska when the Covington and Evans families attended Grandview Baptist Church. Terry was a great kid and amazing athlete, but small in stature. While Terry's growth spurt came later than the Covington boys, it never affected his competitiveness. We participated in sports at Robert Service High School together and were part of  a very active youth group. He always had a smile and humble spirit and was liked by everyone. When I saw Terry and Donna a few years back while traveling through North Carolina, it was like we had never  been apart for several decades. On behalf of the Covington clan, I want to express to the Evans' family how much you are loved. Our prayers are with you in these days of mourning his loss but celebrating his personal victory in Christ.

I have such fond memories of Coach Evans. He put up with the antics of our ladies varsity basketball team at TCA (1987-88), and even did the motions to “The Baby Elephant Walk” at our awards dinner! He was patient and kind, and taught us tenacity and good sportsmanship. He also had such a great sense of humor, and we all loved him. Prayers for peace for his family and may he Rest In Peace. 

I remember meeting Terry in the mid 1970's. He was my brother 's roommate Bobby Hetrick  at Temple.  My brother spoke so highly of Terry. They were life long friends.  🙏

It's so sad to hear this. Terry was one of my teachers in high school and he was even in my fantasy basketball league. Enjoyed hanging out with him after school playing basketball in the gym. My prayers are with his family today.
