After 40 years of working as a corporate executive in Telecommunications with several large corporations, Ted switched his focus upon his retirement to living a life of service to God. He had a passion for sharing the love and forgiveness of Christ and wanted everyone to have what he had. It is this certainty that gave him great peace and comfort after his wife of 59 years, Eleanor, died in 2016. We are deeply sorrowful that Dad is no longer with us, but we are comforted and certain that he is now with His Savior. He told us that on his death he would be with Jesus and that he wanted all of us to be with him someday.
Ted is survived by his brother, George Franks; his 3 children: Ted Franks, Jr., Steve (Lisa) Franks and Linda (Jon) Kuhns; 7 grandchildren: Laura, Sarah, Emily, Melissa, Katherine, Trevor and Zander, and 9 great-grandchildren.
There will be a time of visitation for Ted at Providence Church, 6339 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC, 27612 on Sunday March 1, 2026, beginning at 1:30 pm, with his life celebration service following at 2:30 pm. Following the service at the church, a graveside ceremony will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC, 27612.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Ted’s home church, Providence Church. For years Ted supported and volunteered for the Handyman Ministries program, an outreach program helping others with needed home and appliance repairs. Dad also supported Samaritan’s Purse, an organization that provides immediate help in the aftermath of natural disasters. Donations to either organization may be made by visiting the links below.
